American Hat Makers has been proudly handcrafting hats in the US for more than 40 years.
With six distinct product lines, the brand guarantees a hat for any occasion, whether it be a functional hat for everyday work, or a fashion accessory for a red carpet event.
It all started in the 1970s when founder Gary Watrous started selling handmade leather goods out of the back of his Chevy station wagon. Now the merchant is one of the largest hat businesses in the entire world and is even regularly worn by celebrities including Jason Momoa, Jamie Foxx, and Eddie Van Halen.
While American Hat Makers creates its hats and headbands in California, the items are sold online worldwide on their Shopify store.
With a growing number of online shoppers, and an ever-expanding catalog of products, those behind the retailer recognized it was time to revamp their website experience. Working with leading web agency Zehner, American Hat Makers completely redesigned their site.
Part of this overhaul included beefing up the site’s search and discovery capabilities. To this end, American Hat Makers enlisted the services of Findify, integrating their full suite of Personalized Search, Smart Collections, and Recommendations and thus enabling each customer to discover their perfect products.

Findify + American Hat Makers = Continued Growth
Now, leading site search and personalization software provider Findify has been enlisted to help American Hat Makers grow its reach even further – helping visitors to the ecommerce site find their preferred items quicker and easier.
What is Findify and how does it help increase ecommerce revenue?
Findify is an advanced AI solution which uses algorithms, advanced AI and machine-learning to change the order in which each individual shopper sees each product, meaning each user has the most optimized personalized journey without the need for any manual work.
This helps ecommerce merchants increase revenue, increase conversion, optimize speed, and improve UX for an optimized ecommerce purchase journey.

Following the recent integration, three Findify solutions are now integrated with the American Hat Makers site – Personalized Search, Smart Collections, and Recommendations.
The Personalized Search solution is powered by an advanced AI algorithm which learns, in real-time, the preferences of online shoppers and re-orders product listings accordingly to reflect these learnings. Customers see more of the products they like and, therefore, end up buying more.
Findify’s Smart Collections solution, meanwhile, includes personalized product ranking, dynamic filters, and the ability to create merchandising rules.
Then the Recommendations solution identifies ‘Hot Sellers’, ‘Recently Viewed Items’, ‘Frequently Purchased Together’, ‘Customers Who Viewed This Ultimately Bought’, and ‘Newest Products’. This ecommerce tool allows retailers to maximize their online store’s upsell and cross-sell capabilities without having to manually curate the products shown.
